While PredNet's motion detection in gradient space appears to be sensitive to contrast, human motion perception is primarily driven by luminance. Subsequently, we scrutinized the stability of the illusion across ten PredNets with identical architectural specifications, which were re-trained on the same video footage. A notable disparity existed across network instances in their ability to reproduce the Rotating Snakes illusion and their predictions regarding motion, if any, for simplified versions. Examining the relationship between fidgety movements (FMs) and the rate of MTM occurrences per minute, this study leveraged two video datasets, namely one sourced from the Prechtl video manual and another comprising accuracy data from Japan.
